Why stay at Park Centraal
The dark corner building with its green-roofed tower is hard to miss. It began in 1895 as a café-restaurant facing the park, became a hotel around 1930, and according to the hotel was painted black in 1940 to be less visible during air raids. It has stayed dark ever since.
Park Hotel was the first property of the group that is now Sircle Collection, and it was renamed Park Centraal in 2019, when Bar Claes was created in the former lobby. MOMO, the Asian-fusion restaurant, has been part of the hotel since 2008.
The location is the selling point: the Rijksmuseum and the Museumplein in one direction, the Leidseplein in the other, and the Singelgracht across the road. The corner tower holds the Tower Suite, with a round bed and views across the city.
The rooms: what you should know before booking
Read the room description carefully before you book; these are the points that matter most here.
- Size. Classic rooms are small, at about 16 m². Deluxe rooms are about 24 m², and suites run to 46 m².
- Families. Guests with children up to 12 must book a Family Suite. Cots for under-threes are free, and breakfast is half price for children aged 6 to 12.
- Duplex suites. Duplex suites have an internal staircase, with the bedroom upstairs.
- Style. The last full room refresh was in 2019, and some reviewers find parts of the hotel dated.
