Hotel Fita is a small, family-run three-star hotel of about 20 rooms on the Jan Luijkenstraat, two minutes on foot from the Van Gogh Museum. It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, and guests mostly remember the homemade pancakes at breakfast. It suits museum-goers who want a simple, friendly base and do not need a restaurant or late-night reception.

Why stay at Hotel Fita
Hotel Fita is run by a family, and that is what most guests notice first. It is a small hotel in an older four-storey town house (Hotels.com dates it to 1902), with period features and modern rooms.
Breakfast is the hotel’s signature. Homemade Dutch pancakes are served alongside eggs, bacon, croissants, cheese, fruit and yoghurt, and guests and guidebooks mention them more than anything else. There is an honesty bar for drinks, settled at check-out, and bikes for rent.
The Jan Luijkenstraat is a quiet street in the Museum Quarter. The Van Gogh Museum is two minutes away, the Stedelijk and the Museumplein three, the Vondelpark four and the Rijksmuseum six.
The rooms: what you should know before booking
Read the room description carefully before you book; these are the points that matter most here.
- Room types. Standard Twin rooms are about 20 m² with two single beds, and Superior Double rooms about 27 m², some with a small balcony. Oyster also describes very small single rooms of about 10 m², and notes that some doubles are two single beds pushed together.
- Air conditioning. Only some rooms have air conditioning, and the hotel says it is limited and not guaranteed. Other rooms have a fan. Ask for an air-conditioned room if you travel in summer.
- Stairs and lift. There is a small lift, which is unusual for a hotel this size, but also a few steps up to the front door and a steep staircase.
- Children. Infants up to one year stay free in existing beds. Extra beds are available for a fee, in Superior Doubles only.
