Why stay at the ibis Amsterdam Centre
The reason to stay here is the address. It is one of the hotels closest to Amsterdam Centraal, so you can step off a train from Schiphol, Brussels or Paris and be in your room within minutes. Trams, metros and the free ferries to Amsterdam Noord all leave from the station next door.
It is a large economy hotel, not a boutique stay. Rooms are compact and simply furnished, and the hotel is spread over two buildings joined by a glass bridge. What you get is a reliable bed in a location that most hotels in this price range cannot match.
The Dam is about a ten-minute walk, and the old centre, the Jordaan and the waterfront are all within reach on foot.
The rooms: what you should know before booking
Read the room description carefully before you book; these are the points that matter most here.
- Size. Cosy rooms are about 12 m² and standard rooms about 17 m². If you want room to unpack, book a standard room rather than a Cosy one.
- Family rooms. The family room (about 23 m²) sleeps four, with a double bed and bunk beds. It is sold as having a view of the trains, which children tend to like.
- Noise. The hotel stands beside the railway. Rooms are soundproofed, but light sleepers can ask for a room away from the tracks.
- Cots. Sources disagree on whether cots are available, so ask the hotel before booking.
