SUMMARY:Open Garden Days Amsterdam

With this year’s theme new and old in the canal gardens\, visitors will have the opportunity on 14\, 15 and 16 June 2024 to visit a variety of canal gardens – also called the city’s best kept secret\, because they are not visible from the streets. \n\n\n\nEvery owner of a canal garden has a relationship with the past. You’re surrounded by history: by the buildings\, the trees\, the coach houses\, the pavilions and the sheds. What choices do you make while designing or conserving a garden? What do you maintain\, what do you add? As a visitor of those canal gardens you will encounter gardens that seem centuries old\, but are in fact quite new\, or you will encounter gardens that seem new\, but actually work with very old style elements and techniques. This tension\, between new and old\, is the central theme of this year’s Open Garden Days. \n\n\n\nOpening hours\n\n\n\nThis year’s Open Garden Days will be held on Friday 14 to Sunday 16 June. The opening hours are as follows: \n\n\n\nOpen Garden Days AmsterdamOpening hoursFriday 14 June10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Saturday 15 June10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Sunday 16 June10 a.m. to 5 p.m.\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nTickets for the Open Garden Days 2024 can be ordered through the online presale in the webshop of Museum Van Loon until June 13 for €20\,- (excl. service charges). \n\n\n\nDuring the Open Garden Days tickets are available at one of the starting addresses at the door or via the Museum Van Loon webshop for €22\,50 (excl. service charges). \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Open Garden Days

SUMMARY:De Parade Amsterdam 2027
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\nDe Parade is the travelling theatre festival of the Netherlands\, and its grand finale takes place in Amsterdam: from 24 July to 9 August 2027\, Martin Luther Kingpark on the banks of the Amstel fills with theatre tents\, fairground lights and around 75\,000 visitors. \nA fairground of theatre\nDe Parade works like a festival of tasting portions: dozens of striped tents each host short performances of 30-45 minutes – theatre\, comedy\, music\, dance and circus – so you can see three or four shows in one evening. Between shows\, the festival terrain itself is the attraction: swings\, food stalls from oysters to poffertjes\, live bands and the famous merry-go-round. \nHow it works\n\nEntrance ticket gives access to the terrain; performances sell separate tickets (typically €5-€15)\nBook ahead or gamble: popular shows sell out daily\, but queuing at the tent often works too\nAfternoons are family time with kids’ performances; evenings are for the grown-ups\n\nPractical information\n\nDates: 24 July – 9 August 2027\nLocation: Martin Luther Kingpark\, along the Amstel\nGetting there: tram 12 or metro 52 to Amstelstation area\, or a beautiful cycle along the river\nTickets: via deparade.nl\n\nInsider tip: arrive by water. The Amstel route past the park is one of the prettiest stretches for a canal cruise on a summer evening – you’ll see the festival lights from the river. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n\n\n\n \n Google Calendar \n \n\n \n iCalendar \n \n\n \n Outlook 365 \n \n\n \n Outlook Live \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n Details\n	\n\n\n Date:\n \n \n \n \n\n Time:\n \n\n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe 2027 dates shown here follow the usual scheduling of this event; the exact dates are still to be confirmed by the organisers.

SUMMARY:Loveland Festival 2027
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\nLoveland Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved electronic music festivals of Amsterdam. On 8 and 9 August 2027\, Sloterpark – with its lake\, woods and beaches – becomes a two-day playground for around 60\,000 techno and house lovers. \nTechno with a view\nSince 1995\, Loveland has stood for quality line-ups without gimmicks: international headliners and Amsterdam heroes across multiple stages\, set around the Sloterplas lake. Expect melodic techno at sunset over the water\, raw warehouse sounds in the woods\, and the famous Loveland atmosphere – friendly\, mixed and dedicated to the music. \nGood to know\n\nTwo days\, two vibes: Saturday traditionally runs deeper and harder; Sunday is the classic Loveland day that ends with an all-crowd singalong closing\nSetting: stages around the Sloterplas\, with swimming spots nearby for the brave\nCrowd: a loyal\, slightly older dance audience – less about influencers\, more about the music\n\nPractical information\n\nDates: Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 August 2027\nLocation: Sloterpark\, Amsterdam Nieuw-West\nGetting there: tram 17 or metro 50 + short walk; cycling from the centre takes ~25 minutes\nTickets: day and weekend tickets via loveland.nl\n\nLoveland weekend overlaps with the Grachtenfestival – you can literally go from classical music on the canals to techno by the lake in one weekend. SUMMARY:Canal Parade Amsterdam Pride 2027
DESCRIPTION:Canal Parade Amsterdam Pride\n\n\n\nThe Canal Parade is the only Pride parade in the world that is held on water. Around eighty decorated boats sail through the middle of Amsterdam while the crowd watches from the quays\, the bridges and the roofs of houseboats. The next edition is planned for Saturday 7 August 2027\, from midday until six in the evening. \n\n\n\nPowered by GetYourGuide\n\n\n\n \n Canal Parade Amsterdam Pride 2027\n \n \n \n \n About the Amsterdam Canal ParadeWhen is the Canal Parade 2027The route\, and where to standWhat it costsWatching from the waterHotels during PrideGetting there on the dayAftermovie Canal Parade\n \n \n\n\nAbout the Amsterdam Canal Parade\n\n\n\nThe Canal Parade is the centrepiece of Pride Amsterdam. The boats represent everything from small LGBTQI+ foundations to the pink networks of multinationals\, and they sail the city canals to mark the past\, present and future of the community. It began as the Gay Parade and grew into the largest single event held on the Amsterdam canals. \n\n\n\nOne thing to keep in mind when you read older coverage: 2026 was WorldPride in Amsterdam\, a much larger programme that runs in a different city every few years. The 2027 edition is the regular city Pride again\, so crowd numbers and the programme around the parade will not be the same. \n\n\n\nWhen is the Canal Parade 2027\n\n\n\nDateSaturday 7 August 2027 (planned)Time12:00 to 18:00Where it startsOosterdok\, behind Centraal StationWhere it endsWesterdok\, west of the stationBoatsAround eightyCost to watchFree from the quays and bridges\n\n\n\nPride Amsterdam runs for roughly a week and a half around the parade. The full 2027 programme had not been published by the organisers when this page was last checked\, so treat the date as planned rather than confirmed and check again in the spring. \n\n\n\nThe route\, and where to stand\n\n\n\nThe parade leaves the Oosterdok at midday and works its way west and then south before turning back north to the Westerdok. It is one long loop through the oldest water in the city. \n\n\n\nOosterdokThe start. Wide water\, boats still forming up\, and the least crowded stretch of the whole route.Nieuwe HerengrachtNarrow and shaded\, running along the edge of the old Jewish quarter.AmstelThe widest water on the route. Longest sightlines\, and the stretch where the crowd is thickest.PrinsengrachtThe classic canal-house backdrop\, and the most photographed part of the parade.WesterdokThe finish\, back near the harbour.\n\n\n\nIf you want a view rather than an atmosphere\, the Amstel gives you the most water to look across. If you want the postcard\, stand on the Prinsengracht. Bridges fill up first and are closed off once they are full\, so being early matters more than being clever about the spot. \n\n\n\nWhat it costs\n\n\n\nWatching from the quays and the bridges costs nothing. What you pay for is a seat: the terraces\, rooftops and boats along the route sell tickets\, and the good ones go months in advance. \n\n\n\nRent a boat and find your own spot on the water — the most flexible option if you are with a group.A semi-open canal cruise for the days around the parade\, when the canals are quieter but the city is still in full swing. An evening cruise — the parade ends at six and the city keeps going long after.\n\n\n\nWatching from the water\n\n\n\nYou may join the water in your own boat\, but not without paperwork. Mooring or sailing along the route on the day requires a Pride Vignette from the organisers\, and boats are limited to ten metres. Without a vignette you will be turned away at the closed-off sections. \n\n\n\nEvery canal cruise in the city is affected on parade day: normal routes are suspended or diverted for most of the afternoon. If you have booked a cruise for that Saturday\, check with the operator before you set out. \n\n\n\nHotels during Pride\n\n\n\nPride weekend is the busiest weekend of the Amsterdam year\, ahead of King’s Day. Rooms in the canal belt are taken early and prices climb steeply in the final weeks. Staying inside the ring means you walk to the route instead of trying to cross a closed city centre. \n\n\n\n\n \n Booking.com\n\n\n\n\nGetting there on the day\n\n\n\nThe whole route runs through the car-free heart of the city\, and large parts of the centre are closed to traffic for the day. Come by tram\, metro or on foot. \n\n\n\nTram 2 runs along the western canals and drops you a short walk from the Prinsengracht.Metro 52\, the Noord/Zuidlijn\, crosses the centre north to south and stops at the Rokin\, a few minutes from the Amstel.A GVB day ticket covers every tram\, bus and metro in the city for the day.\n\n\n\nCentraal Station sits between the start and the finish of the route\, so arriving by train puts you within walking distance of both ends. \n\n\n\nAftermovie Canal Parade\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMap of the canal district in Amsterdam\n\n\n\nYou will never be bored in the canal district of Amsterdam. The many shops\, restaurants\, hotels\, attractions and museums ensure that both young and old are entertained. There are also many activities to undertake on or along the canals. SUMMARY:Grachtenfestival Amsterdam 2027

SUMMARY:Hartjesdagen Zeedijk 2027
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\nThe Hartjesdagen on the Zeedijk are one of Amsterdam’s oldest and most colourful traditions. In the third weekend of August 2027\, the historic street between Central Station and Nieuwmarkt fills with music\, opera on the street\, and the famous drag parade. Exact dates to be confirmed. \nA centuries-old Amsterdam tradition\nHartjesdagen goes back to a medieval folk festival\, when Amsterdammers celebrated wildly in August. A defining part of the tradition: men dressed as women and women as men – making Hartjesdagen a celebration of cross-dressing centuries before the word existed. SUMMARY:Mysteryland 2027
DESCRIPTION:What is Mysteryland?\nMysteryland is the oldest dance festival in the world still running\, and after a break in 2026 it returns in 2027 with an entirely new concept. Expect house\, techno\, hardstyle and everything in between across dozens of stages\, with production that is closer to theatre than to a field with speakers. \nProgramme\n\nThree days of music across a large number of stages\, from mainstage spectacle to intimate forest floors.\nA camping village that opens the day before the first stage does\, with its own programme\, food market and morning yoga.\nLarge-scale art\, light installations and theatre spread across the site — one of the things that sets Mysteryland apart from other Dutch festivals.\n\nConfirmed: Mysteryland 2027 takes place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 August 2027. Pre-registration is open on the official website; the ticket sale follows later. \nPractical information\nLocation: the former Floriade site in Haarlemmermeer\, roughly 20 kilometres from the centre of Amsterdam. SUMMARY:Amsterdam City Swim 2027
DESCRIPTION:Once a year\, the canals of Amsterdam belong to swimmers instead of boats. During the Amsterdam City Swim on Sunday 5 September 2027 (exact date to be confirmed by the organisers)\, around 2\,500 participants dive into the water for a 2 km swim through the historic city centre\, raising money for research into ALS. \nSwimming through the canals for a good cause\nThe Amsterdam City Swim started in 2012 and has since raised millions for the fight against ALS\, the devastating nerve and muscle disease. For one morning\, tour boats make way\, the water quality is tested\, and swimmers of all levels – from CEOs to celebrities to first-timers – take on the unique course through the canal district and the Amstel. \nWatching the event\nThe City Swim is a spectacular sight from the quaysides: thousands of orange swim caps moving through the canals\, cheered on by crowds on the bridges. The start and finish areas have the best atmosphere\, with music and speaker commentary. Check the official website for this year’s exact route. \nTaking part\n\nDate: Sunday 5 September 2027\nDistance: approximately 2 km through open water\nEntry: individual swimmers and business teams; every participant raises funds for ALS research\nTraining: the organisation offers open-water training sessions in the months before\n\nNot swimming? SUMMARY:Open Monumentendag Amsterdam 2027 (Heritage Days)
DESCRIPTION:During Open Monumentendag (European Heritage Days) on 11 and 12 September 2027\, hundreds of monuments across Amsterdam open their doors free of charge – including dozens of canal houses\, hidden courtyards and historic interiors that are closed to the public the other 363 days of the year. \nBehind the facades of the canal district\nFor lovers of the UNESCO canal district\, this is the weekend of the year. Monumental canal houses on the Herengracht and Keizersgracht show their grand salons\, painted ceilings and secret gardens. Beyond the canals\, think windmills\, churches\, shipyards\, courtyards (hofjes) and even normally off-limits industrial heritage. \nHow to plan your weekend\n\nThe full list of open monuments is published in early September – plan a route\, because you won’t manage everything\nPopular canal houses draw queues – go early or pick lesser-known gems\nMany monuments offer guided tours\, exhibitions or live music\nCombine with a themed walk: the hofjes of the Jordaan are a classic route\n\nPractical information\n\nDates: 11-12 September 2027\nCosts: free\nProgramme: via openmonumentendag.nl\n\nSee the canal houses from a different angle too: a canal cruise shows you the same facades the way they were meant to be seen – from the water.

SUMMARY:NN Dam tot Damloop 2027
DESCRIPTION:The NN Dam tot Damloop is the most famous running event of the Netherlands. The 41st edition takes place on 18 and 19 September 2027\, when around 95\,000 runners cover the 10 English miles (16.1 km) from the Dam in Amsterdam to the Dam in Zaandam\, cheered on by hundreds of thousands of spectators. \nA unique course from Dam to Dam\nThe race starts in the heart of Amsterdam\, on Prins Hendrikkade near Central Station. The most spectacular part follows immediately: runners pass through the IJ tunnel\, which is closed to traffic for the occasion – the only day of the year you can cross under the IJ on foot. Via Amsterdam Noord the course continues through Zaandam’s festive streets to the finish at the Dam in Zaandam\, where the party continues all afternoon. \nProgramme 2027\n\nSaturday 18 September: Damloop by Night – an atmospheric 8 km evening run through Zaandam (19:45-21:15) with music and thousands of spectators\nSunday 19 September: the classic 10 English miles\, with start groups leaving from 09:19; also a business run and kids runs\n\nBest places to watch\nThe start on Prins Hendrikkade is easily combined with a stroll along the waterfront. In Amsterdam Noord the crowds are thinner\, so you can see the runners up close; in Zaandam the finish area is one big street party with live music along the final kilometres. \nPractical information\n\nDates: 18-19 September 2027 (41st edition)\nStart: Prins Hendrikkade\, Amsterdam – 2 minutes from Central Station\nRegistration: via the official website; the race sells out every year\nNote: roads around Central Station and the IJ tunnel are closed on Sunday morning\n\nStaying the weekend? Book a hotel in Amsterdam and celebrate your medal with a canal cruise past the city’s highlights.

Exact dates to be confirmed by the organisers. \nWhat is SAIL?\nSince 1975\, SAIL has brought the world’s most majestic tall ships to Amsterdam. The spectacle begins with SAIL-In: a parade of tall ships sailing from the North Sea through the North Sea Canal into the IJ\, greeted by a flotilla of thousands of boats. Keep an eye on this page: we will list the official 2030 sailing options as soon as they are announced. \nPractical information\n\nWhen: August 2030 (five days\, Wed-Sun expected)\nWhere: the IJ and eastern harbours\, around Central Station and Java-eiland\nCosts: free\nOfficial updates: sail.nl
